RemoveTable Method

Overview

The RemoveTable method removes a table from data set by table name.

Declaration

/// <exception cref="KeyNotFoundException">Exception is thrown if dataset does not contains a table with specified name</exception>

Behavior

• If dataSet is null, returns immediately.
• If dataSet.Tables contains tableName, the method removes it from the dictionary.
• If the table does not exist, the method throws KeyNotFoundException.

Usage Example

// 1. Create an empty data set
IDataSet dataSet = DataSetFactory.CreateDataSet();

// 2. Create an empty Department table
IDataTable departmentDataTable = dataSet.AddNewTable("Department");

// 3. Remove the table by name
dataSet.RemoveTable("Department");

Notes

• This method removes the table object reference from the data set. It also removes any data set relations that reference the removed table as either a parent table or a child table. This prevents stale relation metadata from remaining in the data set after a table has been removed. Relations that do not reference the removed table are preserved.
• If your application maintains external references to the removed table instance, those references remain valid, but the table will no longer be discoverable through dataSet.Tables.
