PocoDataSet.Data Library

The PocoDataSet.Data library contains the default, concrete implementations of the core POCO DataSet contracts defined in PocoDataSet.IData. While the IData assembly defines interfaces and abstractions, this library provides ready-to-use runtime types such as DataSet, DataTable, and DataRow.

This assembly represents the canonical reference implementation of the POCO DataSet model. Most applications will use these implementations directly, while still programming against the IData interfaces for flexibility and testability.

Purpose of PocoDataSet.Data

• Provide stable, well-tested default implementations of all core POCO DataSet interfaces.
• Encapsulate fundamental data storage behavior (tables, rows, values, and metadata).
• Centralize default runtime behaviors such as row state tracking, selection state, and default value handling.
• Act as the foundation upon which higher-level libraries (Extensions, ObservableDataSet, serialization, UI integration) are built.

Design Notes

• Implementation-focused. This library contains no high-level convenience logic; it focuses purely on correct and predictable data storage behavior.
• Interface-driven. All public interaction is defined by interfaces in PocoDataSet.IData.
• Extension-friendly. Higher-level behavior is intentionally kept out of these classes and added via extension methods and companion libraries.

When to Use PocoDataSet.Data

Use PocoDataSet.Data whenever you need a reliable, default implementation of the POCO DataSet model. In most applications, this library is referenced alongside PocoDataSet.IData and PocoDataSet.Extensions, forming the complete runtime foundation for metadata-driven data processing and UI scenarios.

  Concrete implementation of IColumnMetadata describing column schema, type, nullability, and presentation hints.
• DataRelation
  Implementation of IDataRelation representing logical relations between tables.
• DataRow
  Default implementation of IDataRow, storing field values, row state, and selection flags.
• DataRowFactory
  Central factory responsible for creating IDataRow instances with appropriate internal storage.
• DataSet
  Default implementation of IDataSet, containing tables, relations, and dataset-level state.
• DataTable
  Default implementation of IDataTable, holding column metadata and a collection of rows.
• ForeignKeyData
  Implementation of IForeignKeyData for describing foreign key relationships.
• MetadataDefaults
  Responsible for resolving default values based on metadata, runtime rules, and configuration.
• MetadataDefaultsProvider
  Responsible for resolving default values based on metadata, runtime rules, and configuration.
• RuntimeDefaults
  Responsible for resolving default values based on metadata, runtime rules, and configuration.
